The Medical Faculty of the University of Bern is accepting applications for a faculty position at the level of Full Professor or tenure-track Assistant Professor.


Candidates with strong experience and outstanding record of achievement in a research field related to experimental and clinical pharmacology are being sought. The successful candidate will bring an independent and internationally competitive research program in his/her area of expertise. He/she will furthermore participate in the Swiss National Center of Competence in Research called TransCure (see: www.transcure.ch ). TransCure is a multidisciplinary team of Swiss experts that focuses on the development of remedies for major human diseases such as diabetes, cancer, heart diseases and neurological diseases based on scientific breakthroughs in the field of transporter and ion channel biology. He/she will provide expertise in experimental pharmacology and preclinical drug development such as ADME profiling and support for the development of therapeutic lead compounds emerging from existing TransCure projects. A well-documented record of independent and innovative research is a prerequisite, including significant publications in high impact journals. Specific experience in transport or membrane biology, however, is not required. In addition, he/she will participate in teaching pharmaceutical sciences, medicinal physiology and biochemistry to students of medicine, veterinary medicine and pharmacy. Fluency in English is a necessary requirement.
