The Cooperation and Development Center (CODEV) is entrusted with the task of implementing the strategy of EPFL’s Direction in terms of research, training and advice in favour of scientific and technological cooperation with emerging and developing countries. Comprising a team of 20 scientific and administrative collaborators, CODEV seeks to strengthen its management in order to expand its action, in coordination with EPFL’s laboratories and Schools.

DescriptionYour mission will be to assist the Director of the Center in the supervision and the expansion of current and future activities. This position calls for a certain amount of travelling within the year, both in Switzerland and abroad.
Job description
  • Assist the Director of CODEV in the scientific management of the Center’s activities
  • Coordinate and reinforce CODEV’s research activities
  • Establish and implement a fundraising policy
  • Develop and reinforce working relationships with the different entities of the federal administration and other private entities
  • Inform and advise the researchers at EPFL of the setting up of cooperation for development projects
  • Represent the Director of CODEV in his public relations activities should he be prevented from carrying them out
Requirements
  • PhD in engineering sciences or an equivalent academic degree
  • Several years of work experience after obtaining your academic degree
  • Accepted practice of scientific research
  • Personal involvement in cooperation projects with emerging and/or developing countries, if possible with a professional stint of more than one year in at least one of those countries
  • Confirmed experience in the management of complex projects
  • Confirmed experience in the search for financing at the public and private levels
  • At ease in handling public relations activities
  • Skilled negotiator
  • Fluent/native command of English and French and very good knowledge of German
