The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences of the University of Lausanne has an opening for a full time position of Full Professor or Assistant Professor (tenure track) in Social studies of sciences and technologies.

Description

Teaching (40%)

The position requires 5 hours per week of teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels of studies of the program in human and social sciences at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Lausanne, and 1 hour of teaching for the Master of social sciences at the University of Lausanne. Teaching should mainly cover the social dimension of innovation, risks and expert evaluation in the field of sciences and technologies.

Research (45%)

The successful candidate will conduct personal and team research in the ways of production of knowledge, tools and application of sciences and technologies, as well as stakes and controversies that these arise in the public sector and in the private life. An experience of field studies in these fields is necessary.

Administrative tasks (15 %)

According to the legal system and to the requirements of the collegial structure of the University, the successful candidate will take on administrative tasks that could be imparted to him/her as part of his/her job, at the levels of the Institute, the Faculty, the University and bodies of high education coordination.

Earnings

Annual salary at hiring for a full professor (grading 2010) minimum of CHF 150’862, maximum of CHF 179’684 plus thirteenth salary.

Annual salary at hiring for an assistant professor (tenure track) (grading 2010) minimum of CHF 115’385, maximum of CHF 146’276 plus thirteenth salary.

Requirements

Applicants must possess a Ph.D. in social sciences or an equivalent title. Applicants should be fluent in French and in English.
