The Faculty of Geosciences and Environment enjoys an exceptionally green lakeside setting. The Campus is only few minutes away from the center of Lausanne by public transport. Lausanne is the capital city of the Canton de Vaud. It is renowned for the quality and the variety of its cultural activities.
The Institute of Geography (IGUL) was founded in 1948. It trains geographers who develop both versatile and specific skills. More than forty researchers are participating in teaching activities in terms at the bachelor’s, master’s and postgraduate levels. Two main areas of research, “alpine environments” and “urban studies”, allow researchers to study the relations between the biophysical and social dimensions of space, with a perspective of territorial sustainability.
