This MAS aims at deepening theoretical and practical knowledge acquired during the baseline studies in the field of conservative dental treatment and microinvasive aesthetic dentistry. It fosters dental practitioners’ excellence in their practice.

Bilingual course (English/French). 4 semesters min. 6 semesters max. , 400 hours of teaching and 1400 hours of personal work, making a total of 1800 hours over the two years. The preparation and realisation of clinical cases will be supervised by specialised clinical tutors.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to the University of Geneva during the 2nd quarter of 2023 for an interview and a practical test on a manikin.

Develop the theoretical basis for a microinvasive approach in conservative dental treatments, i.e. aiming for a minimum of intervention and optimal preservation of healthy dental tissues

Organise dental treatments in a global approach to the patient : master the latest diagnostics tools (photography, X-ray, Diagnocam, Digital Smile Design, etc...) and know how to select the most appropriate treatment taking into account theoretical knowledge of other specialties related to esthetic dentistry, such as prevention and emergency care, pedodontics, endodontics, periodontics and implantology, orthodontics and maxillofacial surgery, prosthodontics and gnathology

The Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) in Microinvasive Aesthetic Dentistry is an advanced continuing education programme in this field offered by the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Geneva. It is based on the latest scientific and clinical research and offers a theoretical and practical programme of high quality. It is intended for practitioners aiming to perfect themselves and be able to meet the current national and international technological criteria linked to the rapid and irreversible evolution of our profession. This continuing training is currently the only of this type in Switzerland. It is accredited by the Swiss Agency for Accreditation and Quality Assurance - AAQ.
The MAS programme consists of on-site courses at the University of Geneva, distance learning and practical work (at the candidate private’s office or at the University of Geneva). The teaching is given in French and English. It is sanctioned by intermediate and final examinations and allows the acquisition of 60 ECTS credits.

The Management Committee conducts assessments of theoretical knowledge (using multiple-choice questions) and practical skills (based on evaluations) throughout the course in addition to the interim examinations. Students must pass the assessments and technical aspects of the first basic module in order to continue with the course.
The final examination covers the whole of the programme. Theoretical knowledge is assessed orally and practical work is submitted electronically (CD). Work must be published in a scientific journal relevant to the field of study. Evaluations are graded on a scale of 0 (zero) to 6 (excellent). An average of 4 must be achieved.

The Master of Advanced Studies in Micro-invasive Aesthetic Dentistry is issued by the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Geneva. It corresponds to 60 ECTS credits validated throughout the duration of the program by the candidates' monitoring form.

Applications must be submitted by 31 March 2023 and will be assessed by the Management Committee.

Procedure for admission to the MAS

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to the University of Geneva during the 2nd quarter of 2023 for an interview and a practical test on a manikin. Admission to the MAS is dependent on successful completion of the interview and practical test and acceptance of the application documentation. The number of places is limited.

FAQ
What are the length and the frequency of the MAS ?
Every 2 years, next one being from Sept 2023 to August 2025

How and when can we register to the program -
Online during 6 months the year before the program’ start (right now from Oct 2022 till March 31st 2023) with all the usual documents (CV, cover letter, diplomas, etc.).

What are the payment terms -
The MAS needs to be paid in one installment before the start of the course by August 21st 2023 latest.

What is the difference between an internal and an external student ?
An internal student will be staying at the University of Geneva 2.5 days/week (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning) and will treat patients at the university clinic. An external student will be able to stay at home and keep their private practice whilst having to prepare the required cases with their private patients and connect by Skype one morning per week for the theoretic class and only come for intensives modulus.

What is the required ongoing frequency ?
2.5 days/week from Monday to Wednesday with the possibility to add a facultative half a day. External candidates generally have major flexibility.

What is the number of face-to-face modulus ?
There are 3 course modulus to be planned, each ending with an exam, i.e. 4 weeks in all. More precisely, 2 weeks of modulus at the start of the training (Aug-Sept), 1 week at the start of the following year (January) and 1 week after the following summer (beginning of Sept).

How many exams are there?
An exam at the end of each module + a final exam, so 4 in total. The final exam takes place in person over one day at the end of the training.

How many practical works have to be presented and what should be their content ?
18 practical cases. 8 MAS CASES with support, treatment plan and complete documentation + 10 EXERCISE CASES, with support and sectoral treatment plan and complete documentation.

What is the required content for the theoretical work to be presented ?
For personal work we consider, as part the preparation of case presentations, a literature review presentation (topic to be chosen by the candidate) and the writing of a case report work with the idea to do a publication. This last point is suggested but not mandatory.

What languages are needed ?
The training is bilingual French/English. Weekly theory sessions, modules and exams are conducted in English. French (level B2) is only necessary for internal students who will be treating patients at the university

Are the materials provided ?
The necessary materials are provided and included in the registration fees. It is possible to bring your own equipment if it is deemed adequate and to deduct it from the total amount.
