DAS Health Care and Management (HCM): From Research to Implementation
The 14-week Diploma of Advanced Studies Health Care and Management (DAS HCM): From Research to Implementation course provides international participants with the core competencies to understand and react to health challenges (e.g. healthcare, child health, etc.) at a world-leading institute in global and public health. Participants acquire a range of skills and knowledge needed to work as a member of a health management team, particularly in low- and middle-income societies.
The DAS HCM can either be conducted full-time over 14 weeks or in a modular way over 2 - 3 years by doing a CAS Health Research and Interventions (CAS HRI) and a CAS Health Systems and Management (CAS HSM) and the final oral exam of the DAS HCM. The DAS HCM also serves as the core course for those who wish to pursue a Master of Advanced Studies International Health (MAS IH) . To achieve an optimal learning experience, HCM employs a diverse spectrum of educational methods, such as individual and group work, laboratory practical work, lectures, seminars, demonstrations, tutorials and visits, among other activities. The course is also enriched by a lively exchange of experiences, ideas and mutual learning among participants and facilitators, alike. The HCM students and teaching team reflect various disciplines, countries and experiences at local, national and international levels. Mode of delivery is planned on campus, adapted to on-line and/or hybrid if the COVID situation requires. Updated information and current dates are listed on the Swiss TPH website. The course is open to participants from various backgrounds and countries. Participants are mostly trained health professionals (medical doctors, nurses, midwives, pharmacists, etc.), though participants from other disciplines (business or social science, for example) also contribute to class diversity. Participants with a first professional qualification (e.g. Bachelor degree) have at least 2 years of professional experience and demonstrate sufficient English language skills (TOEFL Paper 550/ TOEFL Computer 213/ TOEFL internet 79 - 80/ IELTS 6.0 or native speaker or completed higher education in English).
