Your mission

As a R&D Engineer you will lead and contribute to applied research and development projects on biochemical sensors, with a strong focus on development and characterization of innovative sensors solutions and systems based on electrochemical and optical biosensing technologies. In close contacts with our partners and customers, you are committed to deliver innovative solutions to complex technological challenges. Within the strategic objectives of the group, you propose game-changing ideas in the area of Life Sciences & Health Monitoring and promote them internally and externally.
This will include the following main activities:

  • Development of biochemical sensors and assays, in particular electrochemical sensors
  • Tests of sensors in biological matrices, such as blood, saliva, urine
  • Integration and tests of sensors into portable systems
  • Propose novel approaches and technologies to strengthen our technology portfolio
  • Project management, presentation in internal groups and to clients, when requested


Your profile

You are a graduated Engineer in analytical chemistry or equivalent (MSc or PhD) with 3-5 years of industrial experience in relevant R&D activities such as sensors development and characterization of point of care systems for health applications, in particular diagnostics or remote health monitoring. It is a plus if you are in possession of technical skills in the fields of printed electronics, material science, system engineering, fluidics. Capable of seeing the big picture you know how to prioritize your tasks in an efficient way and you ensure a clear reporting of your experimental findings. As a fast learner combined with passion for explorative science and innovative solutions you can rapidly adapt to changing situations. Thanks to your natural curiosity and ability to deal with multidisciplinary activities you lead your projects successfully. You like to interact proactively with diverse teams including colleagues, industrial customers, as well as university partners. Finally, you are fluent in English (German would be a plus).
