The HES-SO Geneva is looking for its Information Science Department at the Haute Ecole de
Gestion:

A UAS Associate Professor in Information Monitoring and Analysis 80 - 100%.

HEG Geneva is part of the HES-SO Geneva academic system, whose mission is to train high-level future professionals. In this context, HEG Geneva’s Information Science Department recently revised its framework study plan to better align with technological developments and the needs of the job market. The curriculum is now divided into four main areas: Libraries, Archiving, Information Monitoring and Management, and Information Technology.

To assist the Information Science Department in supporting institutions, organizations and companies in their digital and sustainable transformations, HEG Geneva is looking for a candidate with solid experience in change and innovation management in sectors influenced by information science.

This person must be able to establish networks with professionals at cantonal, national and international levels, possibly including the Anglo-Saxon world.

Description

  • Teaching courses in the fields of Intelligence and Information Management and Analysis for Bachelor’s. Master’s and vocational training programs, with an emphasis on practical aspects and emerging trends, particularly in at least two or preferably three of the following specialization areas:
    • Integration of information intelligence sources into corporate strategy;
    • Use of specialized intelligence platforms;
    • Artificial intelligence and augmented analysis;
    • Predictive and prescriptive analytics / Foresight / Horizon Scanning;
    • Real-time information monitoring / Social listening;
    • Modern knowledge management (AI, Personality, collaborative and protected);
    • Data protection and ethics;
  • Contributing to the development and evolution of training programs, to ensure alignment with employment market needs and technological advancements;
  • Supervising of Bachelor’s and Master’s theses;
  • Writing and managing research projects funded by Swiss and/or international funding agencies (SNSF, InnoSuisse, Horizon2020, etc.) or defined by national strategies (swissuniversities Open science, etc.) in line with the candidate’s specialization;
  • Conducting research projects and services for professionals and companies in the field, at local, cantonal and federal (and/or international) level;
  • Promoting research results through publications in scientific journals, conferences and public outreach;
  • Administrative and organizational tasks related to teaching and research areas.

Requirements

  • Level 2 diploma from a university in Information Science or a related field. A doctorate (PhD) related to the teaching and research field will be an asset;
  • Teaching experience at both the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels or in continuing education is highly desirable;
  • Professional experience of at least five years in the fields Competitive Intelligence and/or Library & Information science, with a focus on emerging trends in the field;
  • Proficiency in digital trends, methods and tools in areas of expertise and teaching;
  • Experience in conducting applied research projects and service offering, as the principal applicant, with successful research funding acquisition;
  • Ability to integrate into a fast-changing environment;
  • Motivation to work as part of a team and share a common ambition;
  • Strong teaching, communication and writing skills in French and/or English.
In case the selected candidate does not meet all the conditions for an immediate appointment as an Associate Professor, a fixed-term contract for a maximum of 6 years as an Assistant Professor may be proposed.
