New clothes are made from old jeans thanks to the "Texcircle" research project
The "Texcircle" research project at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts - Design & Art developed the vision of a textile circular economy for used textiles. Based on the findings of the project, the sustainable clothing label Nikin is launching a sweater made from recycled jeans. The denim, collected by Texaid, is mechanically recycled and processed into yarn with organic cotton. The end product, the "TreePullover", is manufactured by Innolana. As part of its comprehensive sustainability efforts, Nikin plants a tree for every TreePullover made from recycled jeans sold.
