The ceremony kicked off with a lecture by Alessandro Facchini of IDSIA USI-SUPSI on the ethical and epistemological issues of machine learning, followed by a presentation of the Dalle Molle Foundation by its President, Jean-Pierre Rausis. Afterwards, Prof. Rolf Ingold , President of the Jury, introduced the winning projects, explaining the competition’s evaluation criteria: innovation, originality, social impact and compliance with ethical principles. Among the approved projects were Nano Aid, for large-scale water purification, and a serious game for preventing violence among young people.
In line with the Dalle Molle Foundation’s objective of promoting projects capable of improving the quality of life through science and technology, the Dalle Molle Award for the Quality of Life Label is awarded annually to projects that integrate innovation and social responsibility. This year’s ceremony, broadcast in full, allowed the public to learn about initiatives that put technology at the service of society.
