Swissuniversities has recently published some pointers on the Swiss Roadmap for Research Infrastructures 2027-2031 , which serves as an important coordination tool for cantonal universities and universities of applied sciences.
Through the Roadmap network, organised by the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI), researchers become part of a collaborative process in which swissuniversities is responsible for identifying new research infrastructures supported by the cantonal universities and universities of applied sciences. The National Roadmap does not serve as a tool for federal infrastructure funding; the responsibility for establishing, financing, and managing these infrastructures rests with the appropriate institutions.
To submit projects, the umbrella organisation of Swiss universities has established a three-stage process: coordination, prioritisations, and pre-selection by the Deputy Rectors for Research of the relevant universities.
