The IDDEA Prize Gala evening, held on November 27 at the Salle Communale de Plainpalais, rewarded four innovative Geneva projects. Over 400 participants attended this event celebrating sustainable ideas and their potential to transform society.

Ideas for sustainability

The IDDEA Prize, a flagship initiative of the canton of Geneva, highlights projects designed to meet current ecological and social challenges. For this year’s event, 15 finalists benefited from six months’ expert coaching to help them turn their ideas into solid business plans. The Gala evening revealed the winners, selected by a panel of judges on the basis of economic viability and environmental and societal impact. A People’s Choice Award was also presented during the event.

A varied prize list for contemporary challenges

First prize went to Alpibreak, which offers an innovative alternative to dehydrated meals for hikers. Created by Melody Sirman, this initiative combines balanced nutrition, practicality and artisanal flavors.
Second prize went to Floradeau, a project led by Jules Hornung. These vegetated rafts recreate aquatic ecosystems to promote biodiversity and improve the quality of stagnant water.
Third prize went to NOSE, a solution developed by Matthieu Ischer to restore the sense of smell and taste in people suffering from sensory disorders, particularly after medical treatment.

People’s choice award for upcycling and social integration

Last but not least, Ama-K Bro won the People’s Choice Award. This association transforms abandoned furniture into unique pieces, while training young people in difficulty. This project illustrates a concrete approach to the circular economy, combined with a local social impact.

Mobilizing for the future

This 2024 edition confirms the IDDEA Prize’s vocation to encourage innovative solutions to environmental and societal challenges. The organizers are already looking forward to seeing you in 2025 to continue this commitment to sustainable transition.
