Our new scientific associate introduces herself.
I am a new scientific associate at the Institute of Bioenergy and Resource Efficiency (IBRE), working on the Innosuisse project CatHydroGas. This project focuses on improving catalyst lifetime in TreaTech/PSI’s catalytic hydrothermal gasification (cHTG) of liquid waste, addressing catalyst deactivation due to coking and sulfur poisoning-challenges common in many biomass conversion processes.I recently completed my PhD at EPFL, Lausanne, in Prof. Jeremy Luterbacher’s group, where I focused on biomass valorization into bio-based materials and biofuels using heterogeneous catalysis. My PhD research inspired me to further explore the role of heterogeneous catalysts in biorefineries, which led me to FHNW. At IBRE, I focus on catalyst regeneration after deactivation, a solution that could benefit researchers and technology developers worldwide facing similar challenges in catalyst deactivation.
