Swiss Community Day on Data The committees for official statistics, data management and data science will convene at the first Swiss Community Day on Data
The Federal Statistical Office (FSO) will be holding the first Swiss Community Day on data on Monday 4 December at the Volkshaus in Zurich, in collaboration with the canton of Zurich and the Digital Administration Switzerland (DPSS). The main topic of this year’s event will be Open Government Data (OGD). The meeting will bring together stakeholders from official statistics and the different committees whose work revolves around data. It will also be an opportunity to share best practices.
The day will begin with some welcome speeches, an introduction to the day and an overview of the various projects and work completed in 2023. As host of this year’s edition, an address by Zurich State Councillor Jacqueline Fehr will start off the day with a welcoming message.
Georges-Simon Ulrich, FSO Director General and Peppino Giarriata, Digital Public Services Officer for the Confederation and Cantons for the DPSS, will then introduce the day’s programme. This will be followed by a presentation of current projects and the work accomplished in the FSO’s three areas of responsibility: official statistics, data management (including OGD) and data science.
The OGD workshops, which focus on the technical, political and legal aspects of this topic, will start at the end of the morning and continue in the afternoon. A summary of the discussions and topics addressed during the workshops will then be presented to all the participants.
Marcel Salathé, Associate Professor at the Federal Institute of Technology of Lausanne (EPFL), will give a speech followed by a closing word and the next steps to be taken.
This meeting is a unique opportunity for data specialists in the FSO’s three areas of responsibility to meet up and share their experiences. The FSO encourages the media to take part in this event (registration required). If you are interested, please contact the FSO Media Service. We look forward to seeing you.
