Zurich University of Applied Sciences ZHAW is one of Switzerland’s largest multidisciplinary universities of applied sciences, with over 13,000 students and 3,000 faculty and staff.

The School of Health Professions is one of the largest educational centres for health professionals in Switzerland. We offer training and continuing education programmes, as well as research and development opportunities for nursing, midwifery, occupational therapy, physiotherapy and health sciences. We strive to promote interprofessionalism in teaching and research.

The Institute of Midwifery trains professionals who are committed to the health of women and their families through their professional activities. As an educational institution with its own research team, we help solve social and health issues.

The Master of Science in Midwifery focuses on three key areas: clinical specialisation, research skills and the development of leadership competencies, and it prepares the student to take on advanced practice roles. Some of the modules are offered interprofessionally in conjunction with the MSc in Physiotherapy and the MSc in Nursing; profession-specific modules are offered in collaboration with Bern University of Applied Sciences.

To manage the new MSc programme, we are looking for a

Head of the Master of Science in Midwifery programme (m/f) 80% - 100 %

to start immediately or by mutual agreement.

Description

As the head of the MSc programme, you will also be a member of the board of the Institute and responsible for the following tasks:
  • Management and interdisciplinary development of the MSc programme, in collaboration with partners in the School of Health Professions and Bern University of Applied Sciences
  • Personnel management and financial responsibility
  • Teaching in the MSc in Midwifery programme and research work in the science of midwifery
  • PR and marketing for the MSc in Midwifery programme
  • Representing the MSc in Midwifery programme on national and international committees
  • Responsibility for and introduction of innovations for the Institute of Midwifery and the School of Health Professions.

Exigences

For this demanding position, we expect:
  • A doctorate in the field of midwifery, or training as a midwife with a doctorate in a related field
  • Proven knowledge and experience of higher education teaching, as well as research experience
  • Ideally, you have acquired third-party funds for research or development projects
  • You are familiar with the Swiss health and care system
  • You are able to use your excellent knowledge of German and English skilfully, for example in scientific publications
  • You are a leader, able to promote your employees, think entrepreneurially and address the challenges in research and teaching in a solution-oriented manner
  • You have strong communication skills, persuasive power, great motivation and intercultural competence. Furthermore, you have an integrative personality and are able to work constructively with various partners and stake-holders.
