Full Professor of Psychology/Head of the Psychology Department (f/m/d)

Full-time (40 hours/week), starting date: as soon as possible

Description

The successful candidate will help to build and advance our undergraduate and graduate programs, which currently are grounded in theories and methods drawn from clinical/counseling psychology, decision making and behavioral economics.

The Psychology department has lab facilities and research equipment such as electroencephalography, traditional psychophysiology (skin conductance, heart rate, respiration rate and temperature) as well as startle reflex modulation, facial expression analysis software and a brand new observational lab allowing social interaction investigations of any kind.

We are particularly interested in an exceptional scholar who can make a substantial contribution to interdisciplinary efforts, identifying opportunities for collaboration in the areas of strategic communication, international politics, and international business.

The ideal candidate will be well suited for a leadership role with proven history of top-rated publications in research aligned with psychological aspects of behavioral decision science.

WVPU will further fill a position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Psychology where the successful candidate will chair the search committee.

Further to the leadership role of the department, the position holder will be responsible for teaching psychology program courses and maintaining an active research agenda and scholarly profile. The successful applicant is also expected to provide key student services, such as student advising and thesis supervision, and pursue research projects aimed at securing external funding and increasing international scholarly cooperation.

Exigences

The successful applicant is expected to have:

  • a completed psychology doctorate or PhD
  • hold a Habilitation or equivalent
  • A reputable scholarly track record in the areas identified above with special focus on psychological aspects of behavioral decision science
  • A documented history of successfully seeking large externally funded research grants
  • Evidence of teaching excellence in English

Nous offrons

As required by Austrian federal law we are obliged to disclose the minimum annual gross compensation for this position, which starts at 72,420.- EUR (40 hours/week; all-in); negotiable on the basis of qualifications and experience.

Further, a monthly stipend is paid for the leadership role of the department.

The applicant must have the legal right to work in Austria.

Candidates are initially employed on a three-year all-in contract, in which annual performance agreements orientate the department and individual teaching, research and service goals. After three years and a successful evaluation, the employment relationship is then based on an unlimited contract.
