The Argentinian Tomás Bartoletti wants to tell history from a global perspective. Since the summer of 2019 he has been doing so at ETH Zurich, where he has been researching the story of the Swiss naturalist Johann Jakob von Tschudi and his travels around Latin America. He hopes to discover new insights into Switzerland's postcolonial past and the history of Latin America.

The bronze hand of Prêles, decorated with a ribbon of gold, turned out to be the oldest bronze sculpture of a human body part in Central Europe. Globally archaeological heritage is under threat by looting. The destruction of archaeological sites obliterates the basis for our understanding of ancient cultures and we lose our shared human past. Research at University of Bern shows that satellite data provide a mean to monitor the destruction of archaeological sites. It is now possible to understand activities by looters in remote regions and take measures to protect the sites.

  • La Maison de l’Histoire est le pôle des sciences historiques de l’Université de Genève. Il s’agit d’un réseau interfacultaire de chercheurs dont le projet est centré sur l’analyse des savoirs. Les objectifs de la Maison de l’Histoire sont: la promotion de l’excellence et de la recherche, le soutien à la relève et la promotion du travail mené en histoire à l’Université de Genève.   • The Historical Dictionary of Switzerland is an encyclopedia on the history of Switzerland that aims to take into account the results of modern historical research in a manner accessible to a broader audience. The encyclopedia is being edited simultaneously in three national languages of Switzerland: german, french and italian. It is published on paper and on the Internet. It will be finished in 2014.

  • The Swiss Diplomatic Documents is a project aiming to publish key documents on Swiss foreign policy. The project want to provide researchers and practitioners with the official sources in printed and digital form that they need to reconstruct and gain an understanding of the history of Swiss foreign policy. The DoDis Internet Database allows virtual access to a large number of documents which are available as digital source material. It also provides a wealth of information on Swiss and international personalities and organizations who were active in postwar foreign policy.

  • Infoclio is a professional portal of the historical sciences in Switzerland. Its main objective is to develop a digital infrastructure for the historical sciences in Switzerland and to increase the visibility of Swiss historical research in the digital context.

  • Swissvotes ist eine umfassende Datenbank für eidgenössische Volksabstimmungen. Sie enthält Daten zu allen Vorlagen seit 1848 und wird jährlich um die jüngsten Abstimmungen ergänzt.

  • Die Schweizerische Gesellschaft für Geschichte (SGG) ist die nationale Vereinigung zur Förderung der Geschichtswissenschaft und der historischen Bildung in der Schweiz. Sie fördert gesellschaftliche und wissenschaftliche Kommunikation und realisiert wissenschaftliche Editions- und Publikationsprojekte von gesamtschweizerischem Interesse.
