As of April 1, 2024, Eawag will have two new adjunct professors among its researchers: Joaquín Jiménez-Martínez and João P. Leitão have been appointed at the ETH Zurich, both in the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering.

Joaquín Jiménez-Martínez (*1981) is currently a lecturer in the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering at ETH Zurich and heads the Subsurface Environmental Processes group in the Water Resources and Drinking Water department at Eawag. Joaquín Jiménez-Martínez? research focuses on underground applications, including geothermal energy, and their interaction with the ecology of the subsurface - a topic of great importance to the energy transition in Switzerland and beyond. The globally networked researcher has received several awards and his work has been applied in groundwater monitoring and protection in Switzerland and abroad.

João P. Leitão (*1978) is currently a private lecturer at the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering at ETH Zurich and heads the Urban Floods and Hydroinformatics group in the Urban Water Management department at Eawag. The models and methods he has developed are highly relevant to society and will become even more important in the coming decades as a result of climate change. His results are published in scientific journals, but he is also strongly committed to exchanging ideas with practitioners and collaborating with various disciplines at Eawag and in the ETH Domain.
