The Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine (ISPM), University of Bern, employs over 150 staff, provides undergraduate and post-graduate teaching and carries out research in a range of disciplines relevant to clinical epidemiology and public health.

The SwissRDL, medical Registries and Data Linkage group is looking for a

Senior Health Services Researcher/ Epidemiologist (80-100%)

You will be part of a team of epidemiologists, biostatisticians, and software developers working on a range of analyses, reporting and research questions related to medical registries. You will analyse data from and work on reports in different medical registries and observational studies, with a focus on musculoskeletal disorders. You will be asked to take on management responsibilities in addition to research tasks. You will collaborate with several partners in and outside Switzerland, including researchers and clinicians.

Description







  • Analyse and manage observational data from medical registries, with continuous and binary outcomes

  • Produce descriptive and analytical reports

  • Write or contribute to publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at conferences

  • Write or contribute to research grants

  • Support clinicians, researchers and PhD students in statistical analyses

  • Communication and collaboration with external clinical experts

  • Project management

Requirements





  • PhD level qualification in epidemiology, or related field, or MD specialized in clinical research and epidemiology

  • Experience in health services, population- or registry-based research is an asset

  • Solid publication record

  • Excellent knowledge of German (or French) and English and strong communication and writing skills

  • Ability to work independently and interact with interdisciplinary teams

We offer

The post is available starting from 1 st of May 2017, and is offered for 2 year initially with possible extensions for several years. Salary depends on qualification and experience.
