LYO-X is a Swiss company located in Basel and providing global consulting and Systems Pharmacology modelling services for the development of biologics and cell-based therapies. In addition to its services LYO-X is developing its own digital health solution for dermatological and ophthalmological applications.


We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher who is an expert in image analysis and machine learning including deep learning. This project is about developing image analysis and machine learning algorithms for the automated skin lesion detection and severity classification in dermatological diseases. We are focusing primarily on psoriasis, an autoimmune skin disease with a severe quality of life impact. A first version of the algorithm has been developed, demonstrating the feasibility of this approach, and a set of images is available to continue the development and the training of the algorithms. The project will be done in collaboration with the EPFL Lausanne and with several Swiss University Hospital for the access of medical expertise and patient image data.


There are specific requirements for this positions that are aimed at supporting outstanding scientists who have been studying and working abroad and who want to continue their career in Switzerland. The position will be supported by the Marie Curie Actions ( MSCA-IF-EF-SE ) which is a part of Horizon2020.The position is open to any nationality. The applicant must not have lived or worked more than 3 years in Switzerland during the last 5 years and the applicant must be in possession of a doctoral degree. The candidate will need to submit a research proposal to the funding agency.

Technical requirements
This project requires excellent computational skills in general and in particular in image analysis, advanced machine learning and deep learning. Programming will be done in Matlab, R and/or Python. iOS programming skills can be advantageous in order to implement basic image recording apps for patient images.
