The Chair of Sustainable Construction is performing research on the development of novel materials with a focus to mainstream alternative materials that can be game changing actors for resources savings and greenhouse gas emissions reduction. Within, The EU Horizon 2020 MSCA-ETN SULTAN the chair of sustainable construction is looking for a bright and enthusiastic PhD candidate. SULTAN focuses on the Remediation and Reprocessing of Sulfidic Mining Waste Sites. The PhD related to ESR 13 will focus on the use of Sulfidic tailing residue for underground cementitious concrete. The objective is to develop a flowable material based on sulfidic tailing that will be able to set into a hard concrete material. This involves the development of a process to deflocculate the tailing material as well as the development of a sulfoferric cement based on internal reaction with sulfidic material in order to have a setting of the material once poured into the ground.

We seek individuals with a subset of the following skills: Master Degree in material science, civil or material engineering, physics or similar field. Experience in experimental laboratory work and a strong interest in alternative building materials is highly recommended. Furthermore, the candidate should enjoy working in teams, be ready to meet new challenges. Fluent English speaking is mandatory. ,
