Postdoctoral Researcher NCCR DFAB

Your mission :
The EPFL Computer Graphics and Geometry Laboratory (LGG) is looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher to strengthen our interdisciplinary team focusing on innovative methods for computational design and digital fabrication. Our research aims to understand fundamental principles of geometric computing and leverage these insights to develop new algorithms and tools for 3D shape analysis, simulation, design, and fabrication. Our research explores the interface of several scientific disciplines, such as mathematics, computer science, mechanical engineering, and architecture to facilitate innovative computational design solutions for advanced manufacturing and construction.

Main duties and responsibilities include :
  • Advance our scientific research in the areas of computational design & complex assemblies in the NCCR Digital Fabrication ( ?" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"> )
  • Coordinate collaborative research activities in the context of the NCCR Digital Fabrication
  • Participate in the supervision of PhD candidates
  • Participate in the writing of articles and of other documents related to research activities
  • Support the logistic activities of the unit
  • Participate in the teaching activities of the section, assistance of exercises, experiments and semester projects, correction of examination papers

Your profile :
Applicants should have completed or be about to complete their Ph.D. studies. We expect a strong scientific background and proven track record in geometry processing, physics-based simulation, numerical optimization, computational design, digital fabrication, architectural design, or related areas. We expect excellent communication skills in English and a good team spirit.

We provide access to advanced digital fabrication technology, in particular additive and subtractive CNC machines. Our laboratory is a member of the National Competence Center for Research on Digital Fabrication. Postdoc positions are initially offered for 12 months and can be extended for up to 4 years.
