Job Start | 1.03.2021 |
We are studying disorders of hemostasis and thrombosis using whole exome sequencing and functional/structural analyses of clot properties in patient samples. Our major interest is in disorders affecting fibrinogen, both quantitative and qualitative. With fibrin, produced by thrombin-mediated cleavage, fibrinogen plays important roles in many physiological processes. The formation of a stable blood clot, containing polymerized and cross-linked fibrin, is crucial to prevent blood loss and drive wound healing upon vascular injury. The fibrin clot structure, which can be influenced by a large number of variables, has been linked to cardiovascular disease risk.
RequirementsWe are looking for motivated candidates with qualifications in Biomedical Sciences or Biophysics interested in translating results obtained from basic medical science studies into a better knowledge of patient phenotypes towards personalised treatments. Experience in Bioinformatics or Statistics is a plus.
We offerTwo positions, one post-doctoral, one for a PhD student, are available immediately in the laboratory of Prof. Marguerite Neerman-Arbez (UNIGE) and Dr. Alessandro Casini (HUG).
