PhD position - Mobility Information Engineering 100%, Zurich, temporary The Institute of Cartography and Geoinformation is looking for a highly motivated doctoral candidate in the area of Mobility Information Engineering at the Chair of Geoinformation Engineering (?url=www.gis.ethz.ch&module=jobs&id=51628" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">www.gis.ethz.ch), starting at the earliest possible date. Job descriptionThe main objective of this PhD position is the development of innovative computational methods for the analysis, simulation & prediction of individual mobility, with the goal of making mobility sustainable. This research will be linked to current topics and projects within the Mobility Information Engineering Lab (?url=mie-lab.ethz.ch&module=jobs&id=51628" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">mie-lab.ethz.ch) and supervised by Prof. Dr. Martin Raubal (Chair of Geoinformation Engineering). The position also includes 20% teaching responsibilities in German and English in courses offered by the Chair of Geoinformation Engineering. Your profileThe ideal candidate must have an academic degree in Geomatics, Computer Science, Information Science, or related fields, as well as a strong research interest in sustainable mobility. Knowledge of GIS, methods in spatial analysis and machine learning, as well as strong programming skills (e.g., Java, Python or C++) are required. The candidate must have good communication skills in both English and German (oral and writing), be team-oriented and willing to work in an international environment. Research experience on topics related to sustainable mobility (smart charging of electric vehicles, mobility as a service, ride-sharing, etc.) and on applying deep learning algorithms to mobility applications, as well as teaching experience are a plus.
