Senior Toxicologist / Regulatory Expert Toxicology (m/f/d)

The Product Safety group in Basel is looking for an experienced Toxicologist for our Crop Protection business unit. In this role you will manage multiple global projects in toxicology including specification, monitoring, problem solving and interpretation of studies. With that you will provide information for regulatory, enable exploratory, development and business decisions and design novel approaches to comply with regulatory demands. You will provide technical expertise and written contribution in support of Global and Regional Regulatory, regional registrations and re-registration activities and proactively develop solutions for emerging issues. This requires an excellent and proactive communication with global functions as well as advocating technical positions effectively with regulatory agencies.

Your responsibilities:
  • As a senior expert in toxicology you will specify & review global and regional projects, support global & local registrations and proactively develop solutions for emerging issues.
  • You will influence the development of technical and techno-regulatory positions, strategies and project work plans via involvement in multi-disciplinary project meetings.
  • You will assess third party products to ensure they meet our high global safety standards.
  • You will manage product safety studies to deliver results along with an interpretation of the significance and consequences of those results, by liaising and aligning positions in a global team of peers in Product Safety and other functions such as Regulatory Affairs, project management or business teams.
  • To facilitate business decisions and regulatory submissions you will give presentations at internal and external events.
  • As being part of a network of technical experts you will seek out the latest developments in toxicology and will assess their potential use at the regulatory interface.

    What are we looking for:
  • PhD degree in toxicology, biology, chemistry or pharmacology with 8-10 years’ work experience as a toxicologist. European board registration as toxicologist (ERT) preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects and to deliver technical leadership in defined areas.
  • Experiences in regulatory registration processes in global markets of crop protection products or related areas are highly desirable.
  • High level of attention to detail; strong communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to quickly develop robust networks and key relationships.
  • Fluency in English including a high level of written communication skills – enabling to write statements for country regulators in a tailored manner. Any additional language would be an advantage.
