The company
Founded in 2015, leadXpro AG is a rapidly growing biotech company focusing on solving structures of membrane protein drug targets (e.g. GPCRs, ion-channels and transporters) for the discovery and optimization of next-generation medicines. Based on a unique platform for membrane protein expression, purification and engineering, and preferential access to synchrotron and free electron laser (SLS/SwissFEL) beamlines for X-ray analysis and cryo-EM facilities, leadXpro characterizes the interaction of small molecules and biotherapeutics with drug targets in time to impact the discovery of novel therapeutics. This position at leadXpro AG is an excellent opportunity to join a young and exciting company engaged in cutting-edge applied research. leadXpro AG is located at PARK INNOVAARE, 5234 Villigen, Switzerland. Description

The position
leadXpro is seeking a highly motivated, bench-oriented Scientist who will be part of an interdisciplinary team working on leadXpro proprietary and partnered projects, within a highly collaborative international environment. The successful applicant will contribute to the investigation of protein-ligand interactions as well as to the characterization of membrane protein stability by using biophysical methods. Furthermore, the Scientist will be involved in protein purification.

Key tasks and responsibilities
The successful candidate will contribute to a dynamic team that values transparency, integrity, reliability and passion for science to create benefits for patients.

Key duties include:

  • Apply biophysical and functional assays to screen constructs, conditions, quality and ligand binding of protein samples (SPR, GCI, thermal shift assays, nanoDSF, MST, functional assays, binding assays, scintillation proximity assay, fluorescence/bioluminescence spectroscopy, FRET).
  • Evaluation and implementation of new biophysical and functional assays.
  • Purification of membrane and soluble proteins.
  • Analyse, report and present data to project teams, clients or supervisors.
  • Work independently but as part of a multi-disciplinary team of scientists.

Requirements

Key qualifications and requirements

  • Applicants should preferably have a background (apprenticeship, BSc., MSc., PhD) in biophysics, biochemistry, biotechnology or a related discipline.
  • Hands-on experience in biophysical/biochemical assays (SPR, GCI, thermal shift assays, nanoDSF, MST, functional assays, binding assays, scintillation proximity assay, fluorescence/bioluminescence spectroscopy, FRET) is essential.
  • Hands-on experience in the purification of membrane proteins (preferably SLC transporters) using state-of-the-art methods is an asset.
  • Previous working experience in an industrial or biotech setting is considered a plus.
  • Proven ability to work in a collaborative environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills as well as fluency in English are essential.
