The Molecular Pharmacology Group at the Section of Science and Medicine at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland, headed by Prof. Csaba Szabo, invites applications for a 3 year full-time PhD Student position.
PhD Student - Investigating the pathophysiological roles and pharmacological modulation of the endogenous gasotransmitter hydrogen sulfide The Department of Pharmacology is building and expanding a multidisciplinary research program focusing on the pathophysiological role of oxidants, free radicals and gaseous transmitters (NO, CO, H2S) in physiological processes and in various pathophysiological conditions, including various cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, critical illness and cancer. The scientific environment is extremely dynamic and highly collaborative. The successful applicant will have numerous opportunities to grow and expand his/her conceptual and technical horizons, to contribute to the expansion of the research into new directions, and to collaborate with leading scientists and specialized institutes locally and worldwide. The direction of the research will focus on H2S biology, but it will be tailored either to metabolic disease or to cancer, depending on the most qualified applicant’s interests and background. | |
