Position Summary

This position is part of the Geriatric Medicine Research Program at the University of Alberta. The candidate will work under the supervision of Research Coordinators and the Principal Investigators in the program on a variety of studies. The candidate will assist in the general research operations of the program, which has a focus on clinically oriented research, including multi-centre studies and clinical trials. The candidate will have strong interpersonal and organizational skills to assist with a wide range of clinical research activities. Primarily, this role will concentrate upon the running of a trial of a smartsensor for the delivery of continence care for older residents of nursing homes and will involve working with sites to ensure the smooth running of the study.

Duties

  • Assists with the recruitment of study sites
  • Administers study questionnaires and compiles responses; participates in other data-gathering processes as required
  • Edits and updates ethics applications for the Health Research Ethics board pertaining to protocol amendments and ICF revisions with the assistance of supervisors
  • Prepares data and materials to assist with grant submissions; Interacts with other research personnel on common and related projects
  • Performs other administrative duties as assigned
  • Data entry - paper and electronic; Records data in databases Literature searches

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma required. A degree in any health discipline is an asset
  • Prior experience working with subjects in a clinical setting is preferred
  • Computer proficiency using MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize work effectively.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Able to perform searches on databases, websites, etc. to support project activities; experience with literature reviews
  • Excellent spelling, grammar, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills and attention to detail
