Tenure-Track Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in Swiss and comparative politics

In your functions, you will have to :

Teaching (45%)
Six hours a week of teaching throughout the year in French, at Bachelor’s and Master’s level. Additionally supervision of Master’s dissertations and PhD theses. A release from one hour’s weekly teaching / year will be granted during the pre-tenure period.

Research (45%)
The person recruited will pursue their own research in Swiss and comparative politics with a focus on Swiss political institutions.

It is expected that the post-holder will be affiliated to the Laboratory for Analysis of Governance and Public Policy in Europe (LAGAPE) of the Institute of Political Studies and will collaborate with its members on joint projects. They will be expected to produce high-quality academic publications.

They will also seek external funding, in particular from the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF).

Administrative responsibilities (10%)
In accordance with statutory requirements and in the name of collegiality, the post-holder will take on any administrative tasks that may be assigned to them by the Research Centre, Institute, Faculty, University or university decision-making bodies.

In order to complete our team, we are looking for someone with the following skills :

• Doctorate in political sciences, public administration or equivalent;
• Academic teaching experience;
• Proven research record in the field of Swiss and comparative politics;
• Excellent links with national and international networks;
• Ability to attract external funding;
• Openness to a diverse range of research methods: qualitative, quantitative and combined;
• A detailed understanding of Swiss politics is required;
• Oral and written proficiency in French, in a second national language and English.
