Agroscope is looking for a: Postdoc - ’Costs of Greenhouse Gas Mitigation Measures in the Swiss Agricultural Sector’ Since 1990, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the agricultural sector have been reduced by 13%, and currently account for 14% of total emissions. For the implementation of further measures, the systematic evaluation of the economic dimension of GHG mitigation measures is an urgent necessity. In addition, costs for CO2 uptake via soils or agroforestry (carbon sequestration) should be included. This project will use various modelling systems to calculate GHG mitigation pathways for methane, nitrous oxide and CO2 as well as associated mitigation costs for the entire agricultural sector. The results will be included in an ETH domain cross-sectoral project (SCENE). About us Agroscope is the Swiss federal centre of excellence for research in the agriculture and food sector. Its researchers carry out their work at various sites in Switzerland. Headquartered in Bern-Liebefeld (from 2025: Posieux, Canton of Fribourg). Agroscope is attached to the Swiss Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research EAER. Based at Agroscope’s Reckenholz site in Zurich, the ’Climate and Agriculture’ Research Group investigates the avoidance of agricultural greenhouse-gas emissions as well as climate-change adaptation, and is responsible for the Swiss Agricultural Greenhouse Gas Inventory. The work is carried out in close collaboration with the ’Economic Modelling and Policy Analysis’ Research Group at the Tänikon site in Ettenhausen. | |
