Description du poste L’assistant-e participera aux activités d’enseignement au sein du Pôle en Gouvernance de l’Environnement et Développement Territorial de l’Institut des Sciences de l’Environnement de l’Université de Genève. Son implication portera principalement sur les enseignements en droit international de l’environnement (enseigné en français), doirt international du climat (enseigné en anglais) ou droit de l’énergie (enseigné en anglais) et villes en transition (enseigné en anglais). Ces enseignements sont donnés dans le cadre du Master en Sciences de l’Environnement.

L’assistant-e réalisera une thèse de doctorat sur des thématiques liées au droit international de l’environnement et/ou à la gouvernance mondiale de l’environnement. Le sujet sera à définir en concertation avec le ou les directeurs de thèse.

Dane la limite prévue par le cahier des charges, l’assistant-e contribuera et participera à des activités de recherche dans le domaine général du droit international de l’environnement.

Job description The Research and Teaching Assistant will support the teaching and learning activities of the Hub for Environmental Governance and Territorial Development of the Institute fro Environmental Sciences. His or her participation will focus on courses in international environmental law (taught in French), international climate law (taught in English) or energy law (taught in English) and cities in transition (taught in English). The courses are given in the context of the Master of Environmental Sciences.

The Research and Teaching Assistant will conduct doctoral research in the domain of international environmental law and/or global environmental governance. The precise theme of the thesis is to be defined.

Within the limits prescribed by terms of reference, the Research and Teaching Assistant will also collaborate and participate in research in the general field of international environmental law.

Possible topics include :

• Interaction between science and international environmental regulation.
• Governance of the protection of biological marine diversity beyond national jurisdiction.
• Role of international courts and tribunals in environmental protection, in particular in relation to climate change litigation.
• International energy cooperation and governance.
• New modes and instruments of international governance.
• Equity and justice in international environmental governance and law.

Necessary skills and requirements

• Master’s degree in Law, Environmental Sciences, Political Science or equivalent degree.
• Very good command of French and English (C1).
