This is how Augmented Reality (AR) works: The co-operate AR app allows virtual insights into co-operate, the new research campus of Empa and Eawag in Dübendorf. Visitors can already see what the campus will look like one day.

Instead of studying construction plans and descriptions and then picturing the future campus in one’s own imagination, the future of co-operate, the new research campus of Empa and Eawag in Dübendorf , can already be experienced on a smartphone or tablet. This was made possible by an augmented reality app called co-operate AR. It is an impressive experience that many an onlooker will probably enjoy during the construction period.

On site, so-called anchor points have been set up on the ground for this purpose, which can be targeted with a smartphone. In this way, virtual models of the buildings can be viewed in the real environment and displayed on individual floors. At the same time, construction progress can be checked in reality.

Thanks to a recent update of the co-operate AR app, additional functions are now available to the user. For example, the anchor points can be located and selected using an overview map and are also stored as photos in the app. This new feature, as well as the instructions integrated in the application, enable the user to operate the app more conveniently.

The current version can be downloaded from the App Store (Apple) or Google Play (Android).
