The HGK Basel FHNW opens its doors and presents the online television format OPEN House TV

The Basel FHNW Academy of Art and Design invites all those interested in art and design to the OPEN House on the Dreispitz campus in Münchenstein/Basel on Friday, January 17, 2025, from 12:00 to 21:00. Prospective students will have the opportunity to get to know the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs at the HGK Basel FHNW. In addition to a rich program of events on site, the online television format OPEN House TV will be presented live on Instagram.

As part of the annual OPEN House of the Basel University of Art and Design FHNW on Friday, January 17, 2025, prospective students will have the opportunity to get to know the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs of the HGK Basel FHNW, from Fine Arts, Industrial Design, Interior Design and Scenography to Fashion Design, Process Design, Transversal Design and Mediation of Art and Design to Visual Communication and Digital Spaces. You can wander through studios and labs, talk to lecturers, researchers and students and visit the Campus.workshops.

From 12 noon, students and anyone who wants to become one will start with a hot soup served on the Freilager square. Afterwards, from 1 p.m., numerous information slots in the degree programs and Campus.workshops will be offered both on campus and online. Questions about studying at the HGK Basel FHNW will be answered at the information desk for prospective students.

The OPEN House’s extensive program of events with a focus on art and design also includes several exhibitions that are only accessible on this day and offer insights into exciting projects and current work by students from the various courses of study at the HGK Basel FHNW. These include the LOOK semester exhibition of the Industrial Design course, the Open Atelier of the Interior Architecture and Scenography course and the Visual Communication and Digital Spaces studio exhibition. Special insights into the exhibitions are provided by students from the Art and Design Mediation courses.

CIVIC, the discourse and exhibition venue in the foyer of the HGK Basel FHNW high-rise building, will be transformed into a television studio during the OPEN House, where the experimental OPEN House TV will be produced on site and broadcast live on the HGK Basel FHNW Instagram channel (@hgkbasel_fhnw): Students, staff and alumnae:i of the HGK Basel FHNW present projects, ideas and talents in performances, interviews and other unusual formats.

Visitors to the OPEN House have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a varied program that includes not only exhibitions, but also talks, concerts and culinary offerings.
