Swissuniversities, the umbrella organisation of Swiss schools of higher education, recently approved a number of projects aimed at implementing the national strategy and action plan on Open Research Data.
USI participated in the call with six projects, all of which were approved. Specifically, they consist of five research projects among the Faculties of Architecture, Communication and Informatics involving close collaboration with national and international partners to introduce new tools dedicated to the handling of research data according to ORD and FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) principles, and to consolidate precise standards from which the respective communities of reference will benefit.
In addition, swissuniversities has also funded the institutional project "Data Stewardship at USI," which will develop the service committed to the upkeep and dissemination of research databases generated at USI. That of Open Research Data and, more generally, of Open Science is an issue that has become central in the international academic landscape and, within USI, is part of the strategic planning along with digitalisation.
The total federal funding approved for USI in Open Research Data projects is approximately 660,000 CHF. Details of the approved projects are available on the USI page dedicated to.
