What approaches can help us to manage sustainable mobility?
Currently, the sustainability of our current transportation system and thus our everyday mobility is not a given. The phase model of self-regulated behavior change offers a theoretically and empirically sound approach to positively influence individual behavioral changes towards more sustainable mobility. The four phases of pre-consideration, intention, action and habit are linked to corresponding transition points and their respective psychological influencing factors. The basic idea of the model is that behavior-based interventions (e.g. via the intensity of use of public transport) can be planned and implemented on a segment-specific and tailored basis to ensure efficient effectiveness and thus economic use of resources. Depending on the respective phase, different influencing factors have an effect, which are accompanied by specific intervention options.
