The FHNW School of Business has launched the new tri-national Master’s degree program in Sustainable Business Development in cooperation with Offenburg University of Applied Sciences and EM Strasbourg Business School. This degree program combines three countries, three languages and three universities and offers a unique European platform for training future specialists and managers who are facing up to the challenges of a sustainable and networked economy.

During the inauguration ceremony in Reinach, Dr. Eva Herzog, President of the Council of States, emphasized the importance of this cross-border initiative for the region and praised the students as role models for successful European cooperation. Graduates of such trinational degree programs have better opportunities for international careers and make an important contribution to the economic and cultural networking of our region," said Herzog.

Regula Altmann-Jöhl, Director of the FHNW School of Business, was also enthusiastic: "Our aim is to promote young people who want to develop sustainable solutions to global challenges using innovative approaches. This Master’s course offers an ideal basis for implementing practice-oriented projects in intercultural teams and developing new business models."

The combination of theory and practice, coupled with an intensive exchange between the three universities, provides students with interdisciplinary and intercultural skills that prepare them for an international career.

Another highlight of the event were the presentations by the students, which focused on sustainable development in the border triangle under the motto "IMAGINE - the tri-national region we want!". For example, there were calls for a uniform PET recycling system for the region - a clear sign that sustainability knows no national borders.

The Master’s program, which is co-financed by Interreg Oberrhein, the cantons of Basel-Stadt, Basel-Land and Aargau as well as the Swiss Confederation, is unique in its form and has already attracted numerous partners from the business world who support the students in their projects. Stephan Trahasch, Rector of Offenburg University of Applied Sciences, was convinced that this program is "a real transformation tool for our society and companies". Babak Mehmanpazir, Dean of EM Strasbourg Business School and Vice-President of the University of Strasbourg, also emphasized the European spirit embodied by this course and praised the close cooperation between the participating institutions.

With this new course, the FHNW School of Business is sending out a strong signal for cross-border cooperation and the training of managers who are ready to shape the future in a sustainable way.
