During an interview with TeleTicino, Piotr Didyk, Associate Professor at USI Faculty of Informatics and head of the research group Perception, Display, and Fabrication , discussed improving computer-generated images starting with human perception.
Generating computer images, especially for virtual reality, requires significant computing power. Therefore, developing techniques that maintain visual quality while consuming fewer resources is crucial. To achieve this, it is essential to consider human perception to understand which features must be retained and which can be neglected, such as peripheral visual quality. In an interview available on the (starting from minute 6:45, Italian only), Professor Didyk explains the main challenges of developing such solutions.
