Looking ahead internationally

The new Institute of Nursing and Interprofessionalism at the Department of Social Work is making its first international contacts in Germany.

At the end of June, we and our new Institute of Nursing and Interprofessionalism at HSLU were able to get a taste of international life for the first time. At a very exciting exchange between Sina Biermann, Practice Officer for Social Work at the Health Campus Göttingen (University of Applied Sciences and Arts, HAWK, Hildesheim/Holzminden/Göttingen) and Annette Dietrich, International Relations Coordinator of HSLU SA, we discussed, among other things, the possibilities of student exchange between our universities. The nursing degree programs in Göttingen are new, modern and yet already established. They are located on the Health Campus in Göttingen at the Faculty of Engineering and Health - i.e. at the intersection between health and engineering sciences (e.g. medical technology). The important basic idea of promoting interprofessional cooperation during the course of study links our two degree programs. For example, the Göttingen Health Campus cooperates with the University Medical Center Göttingen and the HSLU SA with the Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine at the University of Lucerne.
Although we are still at the very beginning of our journey, we are very pleased with this first step towards establishing the international network for the exchange of nursing students at the Institute of Nursing and Interprofessionalism. We can count on the support of the International Team of the Department of Social Work with their many years of professional and personal experience. We look forward to working together and are excited about further partnerships!
