Language courses in books and on DVD, foreign language films and game evenings in the language you are learning - the new Self-Access Centre on the Hönggerberg campus, which was recently opened by ETH Rector Sarah Springman, offers all this and more.

The Language Centre of the University of Zurich and ETH Zurich offers a wide range of language courses for students, faculty and staff at both universities. It also features various independent learning facilities, such as audio learning, tandem learning, game evenings, language meet-ups and book clubs.

There has been a facility at the University of Zurich in the city centre dedicated to these uses for some time. At the beginning of the semester in February 2017, a second Self-Access Centre (SAC) opened on the Hönggerberg campus on Peter-Debye-Weg, right by the new student housing. The following languages are currently available: German as a foreign language, English, French, Italian and Spanish. The SAC is intended as a meeting place for people with similar interests, bringing a range of new activities to the campus.
