From June 6 to July 5, 2024, a special series of concerts will once again take place at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts: over 100 Master’s students from the Department of Music will give their final public concerts. One highlight is the soloist concert at the KKL Lucerne, where listeners are also welcome.
106 music students at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts - from budding conductors to jazz saxophonists - are currently preparing for their Master’s degree and the associated final concerts. They are graduating in various fields of study: Jazz/Classical Performance, Solo Performance, Jazz/Classical Music Education, Conducting, Orchestra, Chamber Music, Composition, Artistic Research and Interpretation in Contemporary Music.
In the coming weeks, the prospective graduates will present their skills in front of an examination board and a live audience. With a few exceptions, the graduation concerts will take place in the concert halls of the Department of Music at the Südpol campus in Kriens. The first Master’s student already performed on May 11 at the Oberstufenzentrum Täuffelen. "Our Master’s students grow into professional life during their studies, perform again and again and allow the audience to participate in the process of years of practicing and making music," says Department Director Valentin Gloor. "In the master’s concerts, they bring their music to the point: here they put together their own program. The students’ passion and high level are immediately noticeable in every concert."
Soloists perform at the KKL
Selected students will also have the opportunity to perform with the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra in the world-famous concert hall of the KKL Lucerne. At the "Soloist Concert" on June 26, graduates of the particularly demanding Master’s degree course in Solo Performance will be heard. Students Marie Hasonová (violin), Tereza Kotlánová (voice), Filipe Modafferi Dandalo (double bass), Mikalai Semiankou (violin) and Mariya Kostenko (piano) will perform works by Bohuslav Martinu, Wolfgang Amadé Mozart, Franti?ek Hertl, Samuel Barber, Richard Strauss and Alexander Scriabin. The concert will be conducted by Gabriel Venzago.
