Annamaria Conti joined the Department of Strategy at HEC Lausanne, University of Lausanne, on August 1st, 2018, as an associate professor.
Prior to that, she was Assistant Professor of Strategic Management at the Scheller College of Business, Georgia Institute of Technology, in Atlanta (USA).
Prof. Conti conducts research in the fields of entrepreneurship and the economics of science. In the field of entrepreneurship, Professor Conti has examined the signaling value of patents, the role of R&D grants in spurring innovation by new ventures, and the role of venture capitalists’ monitoring skills in increasing the values of startups.
In the field of the economics of science, she has investigated cohort and gender effects on graduate students’ careers. Her research has been published in journals such as Organization Science , Strategic Management Journal , Research Policy , and Journal of Economics & Management Strategy .
Professor Conti has also won a number of research awards, including the Brady Family Award for Faculty Research Excellence in 2018, the DRUID Young Scholar Best Paper Award, and the REER Conference best junior paper. Prior to her academic career, she worked as economist for Caterpillar and various international organizations.
