This year’s Cybathlon introduces a new discipline, the Vision Assistance Race. Lining up to go is Team SightGuide - a joint venture between UZH, ZHAW and ETH.

If you are sight-impaired, how do you recognise a nameplate and press the right doorbell? And how do you use a touchscreen to buy a ticket? Simple actions for most of us, but daunting hurdles for those with vision loss. In this video, Cybathlon pilot Lukas Hendry and ETH doctoral candidate Patrick Pfreundschuh from SightGuide take us through the cutting-edge technology they developed to tackle the tasks in the Vision Assistance Race at Cybathlon 2024.

Be there at CYBATHLON 2024!
