The University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI) offers at the Department of Business Economics, Health and Social Care (DEASS) based in Manno, a position of Professor in Technology and Health at the Competence Centre for Healthcare Practices and Policies (CPPS).
The Competence Centre for Healthcare Practices and Policies (CPPS) conducts applied research on clinical and care processes and the socio-political systems that frame them, with the aim of developing and promoting effective, ethical and socially sustainable health practices and policies that focus on the safety and well-being of patients, their families and social and health professionals. The CPPS actively collaborates with the Swiss School of Public Health and is characterised by a strong anchorage to local institutions, while at the same time keeping an eye on what is happening on a national and international scale. The research activity of the CPPS focuses on the following topics: the organisation of health systems, the health professions and their transformations, health behaviour, technologies in relation to health professions and health behaviour, narrative medicine and clinical ethics, gender issues in relation to health.
Research and services
Exercise scientific seniority in the subject areas of Technology and Health, carrying out research projects and producing publications relevant to the topic.
Acquire and coordinate research and service mandates with local, national, and international outreach.
Promote collaboration with stakeholders in their field of activity, maintaining strong links with local institutions, as well as with national and international academic and professional networks.
Design and carry out teaching activities, making a significant contribution to basic and continuing education.
Participate actively and collegially in the development of the Department’s training portfolio.
Assume the leadership of a project team.
Ensure the financial sustainability of projects.
Collaborate in the development of interdisciplinary CPPS activities, in synergy with colleagues.
PhD in social sciences, nursing or rehabilitation sciences, or related fields.
Scientific production relevant to the topics of interest for this position.
Proven experience of applied research in universities or universities of applied sciences with project acquisition and management.
Membership of relevant scientific communities at national and international level.
Significant and recognised experience in university teaching.
To have contributed, in their professional career, to institutional development.
Demonstrable experience in transferring knowledge to external socio-economic partners, participation in professional or scientific associations relevant to his/her areas of expertise.
Knowledge of at least one national Swiss language in addition to Italian and English.
Strong communication, interpersonal and social skills.

Teaching qualification (or commitment to qualify within 4 years of appointment).
Knowledge of the Swiss university system and the social-economic context of Ticino.
