On Thursday, 12 March 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm, at the West Campus (Executive Centre, Red Room), the USI Research Service is hosting an in-person information session focused on exploring the financial aspects and budget preparation for research projects submitted at the European level. Special attention will be given to the calls for proposals under the Horizon Europe framework programme (such as the European Research Council - ERC, Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions - MSCA, etc.).
The initiative is designed for researchers planning to submit applications in the coming months. It aims to provide a clear overview of the financial rules applicable at the European level and offers concrete tools for accurate and compliant expenditure forecasting.
Following a brief welcome (12-12:05 noon), the main session "Prepare the budget for your EU proposal" (12:05-12:50 noon) will be led by Sara Caspani , Research Manager at the Research Service. The presentation will cover budget schemes, funding rates, eligibility principles, reimbursable cost categories, and the use of the Service’s budget calculator, with a practical focus on proposal preparation.
This will be followed by a specific segment on "Open Science-Related Costs" (12:50-1 pm) by Igor Sarman , Research Data Manager at the Research Service, who will illustrate the cost items related to open science obligations and practices in European projects.
The event will conclude with a Q&A session (1 -1:30 pm), offering participants the opportunity to clarify doubts about budget preparation and cost eligibility.
