What is the old age and survivors insurance (OASI)?
The old age and survivors insurance OASI (AHV/AVS) is a compulsory Swiss social security insurance aiming at covering the basic subsistence for retired persons (old-age pension) or to the survivors on the death of the provider/bread-winner (widow’s and orphan’s annuities). The employee contribution is deducted directly from the gross salary and amounts, together with the DI and IC, to 5.05% of the gross salary. The benefits depend on the height of the past income and the contribution duration.
