Mental health is a public good worth investing in.Already before 2020, prevalence studies estimated that up to 1 in 5 young people aged 25 and under would experience some kind of mental health disorder, psychological distress or both. The Covid-19 pandemic exacerbated this situation and put the spotlight on mental health, particularly in young people. The Swiss School of Public Health therefore decided to launch a project to foster inter-university collaboration at the Swiss level and the exchange of existing best practices to foster mental health among university students and develop research projects on the topic.

The topic of mental health in university students was first raised from the bottom up by SSPH+ students and lecturers, who then worked on developing an inter-university At this early stage, the project’s Heads are working on a mapping of the existing initiatives in the universities, which USI academics and services can report on the appropriate platform (Padlet, a web space where content can be collected and organised) by 15 January 2025 .

Padlet 2 : Mapping of activities and interventions implemented by universities. This mapping will provide an overview of existing interventions by facilitating the exchange of best practices.
