To be appointed from 01.11.2026 The Faculty of Medicine at the University of Basel and the University Children’s Hospital Basel (UKBB) invite applications for the position of Professor of Paediatrics at the University of Basel, combined with the role of Chief Physician of Paediatrics at the University Children’s Hospital UKBB. Your positionAs Chief Physician of Paediatrics at the University Children’s Hospital Basel (UKBB), you are responsible for ensuring high-quality paediatric clinical care at UKBB and throughout the region, as well as for outstanding university teaching and research in paediatrics.Through your clinical expertise and research background, you will strengthen the national and international visibility of paediatrics at UKBB. Your clinical experience and commitment to postgraduate medical education will secure and further develop the training of paediatric residents and senior physicians in accordance with the requirements of the Swiss Institute for Postgraduate and Continuing Medical Education (SIWF). With your dedication to academic research and teaching, you will inspire medical students and foster the development of the next generation of paediatric academics. Your participative and goal-oriented leadership style will ensure an attractive working environment for both academic and clinical specialists. You will lead a paediatric research group and create a stimulating environment for a successful research team. Depending on your qualifications, you may also assume the role of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of the UKBB. Your profileYou have broad experience across all areas of paediatrics and possess outstanding clinical expertise in at least one paediatric subspecialty. You demonstrate a successful track record of independent research, including the acquisition of competitive third-party funding, in a research area associated with paediatrics, and you hold a habilitation or equivalent academic qualification.You have proven leadership experience in an academic environment. Your distinctive expertise, integrative leadership, and outstanding communication skills place you in an idea position to gain acceptance and trust.
