Description du poste

L’Institut des Sciences de l’Environnement (ISE) et son Pôle Sciences (PSCIENCES) ouvrent une inscription pour un poste d’Assistant-e.

Il s’agit d’un poste à 75% comprenant (cf. cahier des charges joint) :

1) la réalisation d’une thèse de doctorat rattachée à la Faculté des sciences;

2) des tâches d’assistanat dans le cadre des enseignements : E4E261 - Environnement alpin et sociétés; E4E191 - IC Climatic impacts;

3) des tâches administratives;

4) une participation active à la vie du Pôle Sciences.

La recherche doctorale devra porter sur des thématiques de l’impact du changement climatique sur l’activité avalancheuse dans les Alpes suisses.

Titre et compétences exigés

• Master en sciences de l’environnement, physique, sciences du climat, ingénierie ou autre titre jugé équivalent.
• Maîtrise du français, de l’allemand et de l’anglais (au minimun une langue niveau C1 et l’autre B1).
• Capacité de réflexion théorique et critique, compétences en approches quantitatives et de modélisation.

L’assistant-e est nommé-e pour une première période de 2 ans; la nomination est renouvelable pour deux périodes successives, respectivement de 2 ans et de 1 an.

Le poste est financé sur fonds du Département de l’instruction publique (DIP).

La première année constitue une période d’essai au cours de laquelle il peut être mis fin aux rapports de service moyennant le respect d’un délai de résiliation de 3 mois pour la fin d’un mois.

Job description

The Institute for Environmental Sciences (ISE) and its Pôle Sciences (PSCIENCES) open an assistant position.

This is a 75% position comprising (cf. Terms of Reference attached) :

1) the completion of a doctoral thesis at the Faculty of Sciences;

2) assistanstship (mainly in French) for the following courses E4E261 - Environnement alpin et sociétés; E4E191 - IC Climatic impacts;

3) administrative tasks;

4) active participation in the activities of the Pôle Sciences.

The doctoral research should focus on the impact of climate change on snow avalanche activity in the Swiss Alps.

Necessary skills and requirements :

• Master’s degree in environmental sciences, geography, political science, environmental sciences, territorial development, urban planning, sociology, socio-economics or other title deemed equivalent.
• Fluency in French, German and English (at least one language level C1 and the other B1).
• Ability to think theoretically and critically, skills in quantitative approaches and modelling.

Job interviews are scheduled for April 2026.

The assistant shall be appointed for an initial period of 2 years; the appointment shall be renewable for two successive periods of 2 years and 1 year respectively.

The post is financed from funds of the Département de l’instruction publique (DIP) of the Canton de Genève.

The first year is a probationary period during which service may be terminated subject to a three-month notice period for the end of one month.
