...At SUPSI everything does not end with a certificate. There are those who continue to attend, those who simply stay in touch. And then there are occasions such as the General Assembly 2025 of the SUPSIAlumni Association, which remind us how training can turn into a professional community and a formal appointment into a moment of shared emotion, when the professional community works.
There are those who continue to attend, those who simply stay in touch. And then there are occasions such as the General Assembly 2025 of the SUPSIAlumni Association, which remind us how training can turn into a professional community and a formal appointment into a moment of shared emotion, when the professional community works.
On Wednesday 25 March, after the first formal paperwork - the unanimous approval of the amendments to the statute and the new organisational chart of the Steering Committee - the focus shifted to the change of presidency, with the resignation and farewell to Luca Bordonzotti, the appointment of the new president Tiziana Brenna and the farewell to the resigning president Manuela Casanova, co-founder of the MAS HCM club for which she was also responsible for finance. The two new committee members, Marco Pizza and Luca Buffoni, respectively representing the newly formed MAS DEC (Economic Law and Business Crime) club and BIM (Building Information Modelling) club, were then introduced.
Between the lines, however, something more precious also emerged: mutual esteem, friendship, the complicity of a group that works well together. And it is precisely this spirit that best describes the SUPSI Alumni. A vital and heterogeneous network, but with a common denominator: belief in continuing education and the value of networking. Many of them, if not all, study while they work, continue to train in the time they have - or which they hardly carve out among their many commitments - and choose SUPSI because it knows the territory, speaks the language of professionals and has learnt to keep up with their needs.
During the four years of Luca Bordonzotti’s presidency, the association has been able to evolve without losing its identity: strengthening the sense of belonging, expanding connections, giving space to initiatives capable of generating value. His vision is clear, but no less complex: ’In a voluntary context, running an association means knowing how to channel the immediate energies of committee colleagues towards a common mediumto long-term goal, keeping a long-term view and generating value for members’.
Now, with the election of Tiziana Brenna, a new chapter opens. With new challenges, of course, but also with a great desire to do. To make tools, relationships and spaces where we can meet, grow and contribute even more accessible. On the other hand, as she herself says: ’I firmly believe in the value of networking and in the potential of people: sharing ideas creates the basis for new opportunities and feeds a virtuous circle. It is the passion of each of us that really makes the difference’. The handover of the presidency marks the beginning of a new phase: a formal gesture, but full of meaning. Because it harbours two opposing and necessary forces: continuity and change.
And change is only just beginning. New Alumni clubs are springing up, and the calendar of activities is filling up with new opportunities to meet and build, together.
